Entry-Level Civil Engineer

The successful candidate will have an interest in airfields and heavy industrial civil design. This engineer will be working as part of a team under the supervision of a licensed senior civil engineer. The work environment will begin with a two-week internal training, and then rotate with field work, design work, and more training so the engineer grows in their knowledge base, breadth, and can execute projects. The engineer will be trained to:
- Develop designs for demolition, geometry, grading, drainage, pavements, markings, and phasing
- Delineate limits of construction based upon visual and testing data
- Generate construction plans, reports, cost estimates, and specifications
- Participate with site visits and client meetings as needed
- Participate in design review meetings
- Prepare drawing markups for the CAD design staff
- Edit technical specifications per Federal Aviation Administration criteria and United Facilities Criteria specifications
- Assist with design reports documenting complete studies, analyses, recommendations and capturing all relevant supporting documentation
- Be present during construction to observe key aspects of design
- Assist with responses to requests for information and resolve construction conflicts
- Other duties as may be assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Ability to travel and work at domestic and international project sites
- US travel is frequent, with short notice, having a typical duration of 1 to 10 days
- International travel is variable, with about 1 month notice, and a duration ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months plus
Education & Experience
- Must have a BS in Civil or Agricultural Engineering
- Having passed the FE or EIT exam is preferred but not required
- Department of Defense related experience is preferred but not required
- AutoCAD and SpecsIntact experience are preferred but not required
- Must have strong writing and communication skills
- Must have advanced Excel and Word software usage skills
- Must be able to work within a project design team
- Must have strong people skills
