The successful candidate will engage in heavy industrial civil and airfield design projects both in the United States and abroad. This person will report to and work closely with the Engineering Director and the VP of Engineering. The position will require travel within the United States and possibly overseas with appropriate compensation. Duties include:

  • Design geometry, grading, drainage, permitting, markings, phasing for projects; an emphasis in drainage and corridor design a plus
  • Generate construction plans, reports, cost estimates, specifications
  • Mentor junior staff in design principles
  • Visit sites and meet with clients; participate in design review meetings
  • Prepare markups and sketches for plans production by staff
  • Edit or create technical specifications; knowledge of UFGS and FAA a plus but not required
  • Generate design reports documenting complete study, analysis and recommendations and documentation
  • Be present during construction to observe key aspects of design with Company Inspectors, respond to RFIs and resolve construction conflicts
  • Domestic and International Travel for Projects (short-term for data gathering and review meetings)
  • Other duties as may be assigned


  • Due to the other types of projects in the Company, all candidates must be a U.S. citizen and capable of passing U.S. security background check, including driver's license checks. U.S. military contract requirements do not allow dual-citizenship and non-U.S. citizens
  • Project exposure with railway companies, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), or Department of Defense (DoD) and any overseas entity is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently
  • Must communicate effectively and interact well with people
  • Drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free workplace


  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Civil Engineering
  • Six (6) years or more experience in civil roadway, grading, and or infrastructure design projects
  • DoD and airfield experience a plus, but not required
  • AutoCAD Civil3D v. 2017 or higher experience
